Theano Christodoulou-Mavromoustaki is an Attorney of the Republic of Cyprus, Head of the Civil Law Department at the Law Office of the Republic (Attorney General’s Office) and represents the Attorney General and the Government in significant legal matters, policy drafting, parliamentary reports and in various international and European institutions, including the EU, the UN and the Council of Europe.

Her work spans several specialized legal fields such as Civil Procedure & Reform as a member of the Rules Committee which focused on the reform of civil procedure rules in Cyprus, and also as a national expert on European Civil Procedure currently co chairing civil law working groups of the Council of the EU and representing Cyprus in the European Judicial network on civil and commercial matters.

She is also an expert on illicit Drugs & Controlled Substances and serves as the national expert for the European Union Drug Agency specializing in the legal analysis of drug trafficking and treatment policies for drug-dependent offenders. She also serves as a member of the committee overseeing the rights of mentally ill.

She has participated or chaired committees regarding human rights and the rights of the child, notably working with the Pompidou Group of the Council of Europe where she currently co chairs an expert group on combating organized crime and  drug trafficking. She frequently participates in or chairs panels on emerging issues like digital law, audiovisual media services, and intellectual property and represents the Attorney General at major legal conferences, such as the Cyprus Arbitration & Mediation Forum and various Council of Europe summits.

She is also a Scientific Collaborator at the European University, Cyprus, where she  teaches Civil Procedure and the Cyprus Legal system. She has also taught rights in rem at the University of Cyprus.

She holds an LL.B and an LL.M. in Building Contracts (University of Reading).
