Alex is a barrister and heads the Middle East disputes practice of ALN. He specialises in international commercial arbitration and common law litigation, with a particular focus on the Middle East and Africa.

Alex acts for financial institutions, investors, corporates and high-net-worth principals on commercial, regulatory and sovereign disputes across sectors including financial services, energy and natural resources, commodities and trade, construction and technology. He regularly acts in international arbitration under leading institutional rules and in litigation before the DIFC and ADGM Courts. He works closely with onshore UAE counsel on local proceedings and on cross-border mandates, often managing disputes involving parallel proceedings in other jurisdictions.

Before joining ALN, Alex was a member of the international disputes team at Al Tamimi in Dubai and a barrister in independent practice. He is a Member of CIARB, INSOL and the IBA and is also a CEDR accredited mediator. He has also held academic appointments at Trinity College Dublin and the King’s Inns, where he taught international law and civil litigation, and previously sat as a member of a statutory tribunal in Ireland.
